Domain tasting is the practice of a domain name registrant using the five-day “grace period” at the beginning of the registration of an ICANN-regulated second level domain to test the marketability of the domain. During this period, when a registration must be fully refunded by the domain registry, a cost-benefit analysis is conducted by the registrant on the viability of deriving income from advertisements being placed on the domain’s web site.

According to John Chow, Now Google tells domain tasters to eat cake. By not allowing AdSense for Domain on domains that are less than five days old, Google hopes to provide a better user experience by cutting down on the millions of parked pages on the Net. Of course, this move will also has an effect on Google’s bottom line. It’s going to cost them millions in lost revenues.

Oversee.net and other companies have been using this practice for years and it will have a direct impact on them. The gravy train of free money might be coming to a halt very fast. For example, one Google domain taster was generating as much as $3 million dollars a month from this practice.

Google adsense offering a new payment method for some countries. Publishers who located in Argentina, Chile, China (Mainland), Colombia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Peru, the Philippines, or Romania, may change the payment method to Western Union Quick Cash. Western Union is a new form of payment that lets publisher receive the adsense payments in cash using the worldwide Western Union money transfer service. According to Google AdSense normal payment schedule, payments for publishers will be available for pickup at the local Western Union agent the day after they are issued.

AdSense payments with Western Union is totally free. With this new payment method, publishers will no longer need to wait for a check to arrive in the postal mail. This new payment method can also cut down on bank fees and long clearing times associated with depositing checks. However, I wonder why Google didn’t make this payment method for worldwide. If they really care about their publisher, they should make it available worldwide.

To exchange the payment method, publisher should keep these important points in mind:

Western Union Quick Cash is only available in Argentina, Chile, China (Mainland), Colombia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Peru, the Philippines, and Romania as mentioned above.

Unfortunately, Google doesn’t support this payment method for business account. This new payment method is currently only available to individual payee names.

The payments must be picked up within 35 days of issuance or they will expire. If this case happened, a payment hold will be placed on AdSense account and the payment will be credited back to publisher’s account.

To pick up the payment, publisher will need to bring the government-issued ID that will be used to validate the payee name in adsense with the ID.

All payments will be made in US dollars, but they may be picked up in your local currency, depending on local Western Union agent that being used by publishers

So, to begin receiving AdSense payments by Western Union Quick Cash, publishers just follow these instructions.

What are you waiting for?

I think that it is really amazing how Networking sites is growing lately, but Swypefile did something different to compete with the bigger networking sites like Digg and StumbleUpon. SwypeFile is a digg-similar site which you can submit your stories and people can vote for it. But wait a minute there is something new, you can make money with Swypefile. This is what they have to say:

3. Automatically monetize the content you submit with Google AdSense

Aside from the obvious exposure and traffic potential of submitting content to swypefile, you’ll also earn money directly from submitting content - Swypefile automatically monetizes the content you submit with Google AdSense.

It doesn’t even have to be your own content - if you spend some time each day scouring popular online marketing sites and submitting quality content you find, you can earn money from that just the same.

Just add your AdSense ID to your swypefile profile, and any time a swypefile page with content you’ve submitted is viewed your AdSense ID will be used at least 50% of the time.

… and that means when people click on the ads, YOU get paid directly by Google.

So if you are a member of SwypeFile and submit your stories, your adsense will be shared on your story for 50% of the time. If Swypefile one day will become big as Digg I am sure your adsense earnings will grow up. I read somewhere (don’t remember where exactly) that Digg earns around $144K to $200K per month with adsense. Now let’s put that you get 0.001% of it if Swypefile will be another major networking site!

You can add your Adsense ID going to “edit profile” and it will show like this:

I didn’t test it yet how good it will be for your adsense earnings but it is good to try no? By the way, with those kind of services “Adsense share program” it is also a risk to loose your account, because you can’t control the site and when there is something strange in your adsense statistics you can’t remove it instantly. So go ahead if you want to try them, good luck!

Join SwypeFile!

Google is always in an outgoing process of getting rid of fraud, especially click fraud. Their latest measure to protect google advertisers is making sure each click is an intentional click. That is, they want to be certain that the person clicking the ad is doing so deliberately. Otherwise, the advertiser is paying for a visit that is not purposeful.

Now Google is getting ready to make a change to the way AdSense ads are clicked. Many people are concerned that this change is going to affect their AdSense earnings.

What are they changing? Let’s take a look.

From the beginning, a click anywhere within the region of an ad would result in a successful clickthrough to the sponsor site. This image highlights where an ad could be clicked in order to count as a clickthrough.

However, with the upcoming changes, Google is only allowing the clickthrough to take place if the visitor clicks the title or the url of the advertisement, not the description text or surrounding areas.

This image highlights the change that is coming.

What is the reason of Google for this measure?

In all likelihood, there is a percentage of clicks that are the result of accidental clicking. A website page loads and the mouse may stray to a portion of the ad and get clicked unintentionally. Google wants to prevent this from happening as it costs the advertiser money without providing the intended result, and that is a visitor who is wanting to visit the advertiser site.

What does this mean to advertisers?

It means they are likely to receive fewer visitors and more value per visitor. This is exactly what they want.

What does it mean to the AdSense publisher?

Most likely, it means your AdSense revenue will fall somewhat. But honestly, I don’t expect any major changes in CTR. There may be some accidental clicks, but I’ve got to believe that most people are clicking ads on purpose. And if they click the description text and nothing happens, most people will try again by clicking the ad title. After all, it is a hyperlink and I would think the vast majority understand that is where you are supposed to click.

One thing is for sure, we won’t know for sure until the change takes place, but I don’t expect to see any major changes in revenue. Besides, if this change is good for advertisers, they will have more money to spend on ads. And you know what that means.

How to increase CTR on Adsense.
Having a high CTR will generate more revenue for the same amount of traffic you get. This is very important when you are paying for your traffic. A higher CTR can increase your ROI and make a campaign profitable.

I’ve mentioned before that certain niches can have more ‘click-happy’ visitors than others. Finding those niches is one consideration you should make when choosing a niche. Usually though, the only way to tell is by driving traffic to your Adsense pages and watch your CTR.

I always do the following things when designing my ads for higher CTR.

Make background of the ad same as background of the site.

Remove border from ads.

Use large rectangle ad layout.

Make the title of the Ad blue.

Place ads ‘above the fold’.

One mistake I see many newbies do is not place any outgoing links on the page with the Adsense ads. This is against Google’s TOS. You have to have at least one outgoing link on the page with your ads. Always check Google’s TOS and ultimately contact Google if you’re in doubt about a technique of generating higher CTR.

None of the techniques I use are against Google’s TOS. In fact, they help improve the relevancy of your landing page, which is a very important factor according to Google.

In a few weeks you, as website publisher, will be able to change the look of your Adsense ads in a remote way from your Google Adsense Account. This means that any change on the look or feel of your adsense block will be made from your adsense account without changing the code of your website.

Google has stated:

“This new ad management feature means that your ad unit settings (such as colors and channels) for new AdSense for content ad units will be saved in your AdSense account every time you generate ad code. Then, if you’d like to change any of these settings in the future, all you do is make the update within your account — you’ll no longer need to manually replace the ad code on all of your pages. For instance, you can quickly change the borders of all your 300×250 medium rectangles from red to blue with just a few mouse clicks. Fancy! We hope that this new feature will help you save time and will simplify the process of optimizing your ad units.”

http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2007/10/22/dont-get-cocky-google.aspx

I think the comment at the end about how Microsoft and Yahoo could muscle in as competitors by paying out more to publishers is encouraging for the future. They’ve both got to get their acts together first though and as you know, that is taking them a very long time.

“If you’re still partying over Google’s market-stomping quarterly report last week, consider me little more than a passing noisemaker. See, as much as I loved the report, one tiny thing was eating away at me over the weekend.

Let me show you how a few metrics have been trending, and then I’ll explain why I’m worried. Keep on reading at:
